BOYS BASKETBALL: Carroll ends Southwest’s playoff hopes in tiebreaker

Corpus Christi Carroll (18-10) pulled out a victory in the closing minutes of the District 28-5A fourth-place tie-breaker game against Southwest (10-23) Friday at Victoria East. The Tigers won 82-76.

Both teams finished the 28-5A season with 4-6 records. In fact, each lost its last district game. They split two head-to-head games, necessitating the additional, neutral-site game.

Southwest led 45-41 at halftime and 64-61 after three quarters.

No individual statistics are currently available for the Dragons. The loss ended their season.

I started this blog as an extension of the sports stories I've been doing as an independent contractor for the Southside Reporter the past five years. I've been a sportswriter for more than 35 years, including two stints with the late, lamented San Antonio Light. I cover high school football for the San Antonio Express-News in the fall. My purpose, in creating this blog, is to shine a light on the athletic achievements of teams and athletes on the south side of San Antonio.
