SOFTBALL: Holy Cross’ dream season ends in region round

By Mike Considine

For the second-consecutive year, Holy Cross (23-15-2) established a new standard for its program.

The Knights’ season ended Monday, just shy of the TAPPS Class 4A final four. Fort Bend Christian (25-13) of Sugar Land shut out Holy Cross 6-0 in a region-round game at Texas A&M.

Eagles pitcher Elizabeth Fox limited the Knights to one hit. Holy Cross had scored 13 runs in its previous playoff game.

Fort Bend Christian scored four runs in the third inning and their last two runs in the fourth. The Eagles finished with nine hits.

Holy Cross won the season-opening SAISD Tournament and finished second in the TAPPS 3-4A district tournament.
