Hello readers:

I want to familiarize you with the process we follow on days and/or nights when games are being played, so you can always keep up with the latest scores and information we have.

1) When scores begin coming in, the first step is posting them to our Twitter account (@SASouthSports). For the most part, the scores for our area teams (listed above under SA3S AREA TEAMS) will be sent out first, generally in the order we receive them. In rare situations – such as other games within the district that impact our area teams, especially toward the end of the season or during the playoffs – we will mix in important scores from our outliers or out-of-area teams (district opponents of our area teams).

2) When we collect most or all of our area scores – usually between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. – we will post a list of all of the night’s scores we’ve been tracking to our Facebook account (www.facebook.com/SASportsSouth). When those scores are posted on Facebook, it generates a tweet to the Twitter account.

If there are scores we’re missing at that point, whether involving area teams or outlying teams, we’ll continue to update that Facebook post until we have all of scores (or we’ve exhausted every option we have for finding the missing score(s)).

We try to get every score from all of the districts we cover every gameday or gamenight. (During non-district season, we only post out-of-area scores in football). That isn’t always possible on the day they’re played, but if we’re missing a score, we continue trying to find it for the next several days. After the first couple of days, though, those missing scores are posted to this website, rather than to the Facebook account.

3) Lastly, all of the night’s scores and the records for the competing teams are updated on this website under the sport name (in all capital letters and the name: This week’s schedule/results) under the day of the week the game is played. Example: GIRLS BASKETBALL: This week’s schedule/results (thru Feb. 1).

During the postseason, the scores and schedules will be posted under a heading like this one. Example: BOYS BASKETBALL: Area playoff schedule/results (thru Feb. 17).

During the playoffs, we only keep track of our area teams – although we also list the prospective next-round opponent in the schedule. We also will tweet scores for teams who’ll play our teams in the next round and let you know who’s advancing and where they’re at in their series.

Updates to the website are typically done around midnight or thereafter, except on days when all of the games are finished early in the evening. So, it’s best to check Twitter or Facebook first.

4) In the last few weeks of each sports season, we will post – and update each gamenight – an Area playoff picture. This is a way to let you know which area teams have a chance to qualify for the postseason and which have qualified (we also send out tweets to let you know whenever an are team has made the playoffs).

Example: SOFTBALL: Area playoff picture (updated March 25). When the regular season ends, we’ll update the playoff picture one last time with all of the qualifying teams, so they’re available at one glance.

Then, while the pairings are being determined, we’ll list each team’s prospective bi-district opponents and any details we have about the playoff games and/or series until everything is finalized. Example: BASEBALL: Area playoff schedule (updated with Harlandale info).

Once everything is set, that’s when we’ll post and update the Area playoff schedule.

I hope you’ve found this information helpful. If you have questions or suggestions, please e-mail me at: sportsonsouthside@gmail.com

Thank you for your interest in San Antonio South Side Sports (SA3S),
